Try These DIY Water Well Repair Tips Before You Call.

Common Well Water Issues and How to Fix Them

Whether it’s for your home or your farm, having no water is a frustrating experience but it doesn’t have to be costly. In fact, it might be as simple as resetting your circuit breakers. In this post our water well drilling expert, Mike Steffl, will walk you through some of the most common water issues and the steps you can take to troubleshoot your own well.

Issue: No Running Water Inside or Outside

Try the following steps to troubleshoot your water:

  1. Check your fuse box and circuit breakers for tripped switches. Some systems have a separate fuse box next to the well controls. {INSERT SOLUTION}{INSERT IMAGE?}
  2. Check to see if your water well system and your water condition has in-line filters. If they do {INSERT SOLUTION}{INSERT IMAGE?}
  3. Conduct an above ground visual inspection of your water well. Check the well cap and the above ground casing for visible damage. Ensure the cap is tightly sealed and there are no cracks that would allow contaminants or debri to enter your well. Next, visually examine the wiring for any signs of fraying or deterioration. Do NOT touch the wiring. If you see any of these issues, contact a licensed water well repair expert immediately.{INSERT IMAGES?}

Issue: No Water Inside the House but the Water is Working Outside

You most likely have a plugged filter or a clogged water softener, this can happen because {INSERT REASON}. If that happens {INSERT SOLUTION}.{INSERT IMAGE?}

Issue: Water with a Smell or Odor

Smelly water can come from a number of causes, try the following steps to identify the issue:

  1. Check your water softener and filter to see if they are clogged or saturated by {INSERT HOW YOU CHECK}. If they are {INSERT SOLUTION}{INSERT IMAGE?}
  2. If that’s not the issue then it may be coming from bacteria or sulfur in your water well. Well chlorination helps ensure your water supply remains free of any odors or bacteria. Issue: Sputtering and Spraying Water
